The name “Acne” originally stood for “Associated Computer Nerd Enterprises”. The brand began in 1996 as a creative collective focused on graphic design, film, and advertising. In 1997, co-founder Jonny Johansson created 100 pairs of raw denim jeans with red stitching, which he distributed to friends and family. This unconventional marketing move garnered attention from fashion publications like Wallpaper and Vogue Paris, propelling Acne into the fashion spotlight. Over time, the brand redefined its acronym to “Ambition to Create Novel Expressions”, reflecting its evolution into a multidisciplinary fashion house known for its minimalist and experimental designs.
