A Night to Remember at Soho House For the 6th anniversary dinner at Soho House Hong Kong, I had the honour of collaborating with the amazing Marissa Lau of MM Kitchen. I’ve always admired Marissa’s talent and passion, so when she suggested we work together, I couldn’t contain my excitement. Pairing my desserts with her menu was truly an unforgettable experience! Let’s rewind to a year ago: one afternoon, Marissa boldly messaged me asking if she could order a cake from me. At that point, I hadn’t sold a cake in years. I thought, why not? Her courage to ask (no one did that) inspired me. I suggested the Pistachio Raspberry Tart, she loved it and regularly ordered it for her dinners at home. Her unwavering support gave me the confidence to relaunch Flakes & Layers—a decision I’ll always be grateful for. What I cherish most about our friendship is how Marissa pushes me beyond my comfort zone and inspires me to explore my love for pastries. Thank you, Marissa, for believing in me. Thank you Soho House, Crurated, and all the wonderful guests who made the night so magical. The energy in the room was electric, and the experience will stay with me forever. For this one-night-only intimate dinner, I had the privilege of showcasing two exclusive desserts: the Strawberry Fraisier and freshly baked Madeleines. Of course, the Pistachio Raspberry Tart and Cocoa Crave Tart from Flakes & Layers also made an appearance.
