Last night, @kengibbsjr & I ushered in 50 years of Hip Hop with a staple within the culture…writer, A&R, host and current President of @viperrecords @mrmecc to @sohohousenewyork for another installment of The Art of Storytelling…our series where we’ve brought creatives, insiders and titans into an intimate setting to go beyond the narrative; into the art of storytelling…their stories. A key takeaway from Mecca’s journey, trust. That you do not take lightly when someone entrusts their creative art form, business, or livelihood to you. Whether as a manager in any other capacity, when someone trusts you with their gift or business (or both), it is your responsibility to only take that on if you can truly look in the mirror and say you know you can handle that. It’s one thing to fake it till you make it with things that only impact you, but when another enters the picture, respect them and that ask.
