Mom and I had a great time in NYC this weekend to celebrate her birthday. It was rocky getting up here because Delta cancelled our flight on Friday with no reasonable flight change options. So we hopped on a JetBlue flight and didn’t miss a beat. On mom’s birthday we saw Gypsy, staring Audra McDonald. While I didn’t get a chance to see Sunset Boulevard to see how she lost The Tony to Nicole Scherzinger, but oh..my..God. Audra’s performance was mesmerizing. The emotion she brought to her character Rose, was like no other. I’m still in awe. The next day, we went to The Met to see the exhibit that was the inspiration for this past Met Gala theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. It examines how Black individuals have used fashion and style to express themselves and challenge stereotypes. It also explores the historical roots of Black dandyism, from its origins in 18th-century Europe to its evolution through the Harlem Renaissance and contemporary fashion. Bravo to The Met for this wonderful exhibit. It’s time to go home but another wonderful adventure recorded in our history book. #newyorkcity #westhouse #themetropolitanmuseumofart #superfineblacktailoring #superfine
