This week I hosted a panel discussion at @sohohouse with three incredibly inspiring ladies: @candicebrown @thevivienwong & @the_modernchef. The topic was ‘Women in Food’. A very broad, important and sometimes complicated topic; but it was so much more than that. We learnt about each of their stories, the hurdles they’ve overcome, the total love of the job (even though the system can sometimes feel so broken and overwhelming). We raised concerns about maternity cover and childcare when you work in a kitchen, the disparity of women in lower level roles in hospitality and the utter misogyny we’ve all dealt with in each of our careers. We left with hope; hope for change, for the growing amount of male allies in the industry and for a better future where women will be paid equally, will take on the senior roles and smash through those ceilings towards a more diverse world. 🩷 #womeninfood #foodindustry #hospitality #crazysexyfood #paneldiscussion
